Lily Holmes has had a problem with being touched due to a past tragedy that she blames herself for. Since the death of her twin sister she can't stand to be touched, not a hug or a caress or anything. She tenses up the minute someone gets near her. This problem leads her to not being able to tell her best friend Adam Roberts that she is in love with him and so she watches him get engaged to someone else and she stands on the side lines and wishes she could be different.
Mr. Nikoli Kinkaid, the resident Casanova notices Lily on campus and thinks that he can add her to his list of conquests but the football team tells him different and he doesn't believe them. No woman can resist saying no to him.
He talks to Lily and finds out that she wants to change but she isn't sure that she can. So they make a deal that if he can make her feel more comfortable being touched then he will help her win Adam. But the tables get turned and both find out how much they mean to each other.
Lily is determined to win and so she adds a sweet deal to the bet. She tells Nikoli that there is an additional bet that he cannot sleep with anyone for six months and if he fails then she gets to drive his limited edition 1970 Plymouth Barracuda which she falls in love with and knows a lot about because her father used to be a race track driver and she would get under the hood and learn all she could about cars. Nikoli is very impressed and agrees thinking he will win the bet and not lose his precious car.
Both are determined to win the bet but who will truly come out the winner?
Love, love, love this story. I ended up staying up all night to read the story and I had to work the next morning. Thank you for such a wonderful read and I can't wait to read more in the series.
