I started this book during NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month which occurs every November) in 2012. I never really thought it would go anywhere, just a story I started writing to make the 50,000 word count to "win"Na No. I didn't make the word count in the thirty days but I did finally finish the novel a year later and spent another year editing, putting it aside, working on other things and then coming back to it.
It all started with a picture of a castle sitting high up in the mountains with lightening behind it. So I thought to myself what if? So Jeffrey Brantwell and Lydia Hartsgrove came to life that very day and they gave me their story to write. I have always loved the names Jeffrey and Brant and so I combined the two. My hero started out being a stodgy Englishman which was common and he became someone you could actually like. Lydia was born out of my love of reading and I thought why not have her own a bookstore? Something that was left to her by her father and that she cherished dearly.
I have been writing off and on since I was in elementary school but I never finished a book. So for me this is more than just publishing my first book, it is finally realizing my dream of becoming a published author. I may never be J.K. Rowling or Stephen King but at least I have realized my dream of being a published author. I am not stopping at this one book, I am currently working on another book which I started about two years ago thanks to a dear friend. I hope to have this one finished in the next couple of months and then edit and send it off for possible publication. I love romance and that is what this first book is but for my second I have delved into the world of vampires so we shall see where it leads.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me in my crazy adventure of trying to get this book written and thank you for saying keep going, don't quit and thank you to my publisher for saying yes to the book.
I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did writing it. The paperback should be out soon and I will post a release date.
Today was the release of the e-version on Amazon. If you buy and read please leave me a review of what you thought of the book.
